WBD: How did Estovar start and where does the name come from?

We started out doing paintings and art on our computers, then we decided to put that art on tees.
Estovar came from part of my last name and part of Michael’s last name. ESTOrga VARgas.

WBD: How did you get your first big break?

We got our 1st big break when Justin Bieber wore one of our hoodies and it ended up in magazines and on the internet.

WBD: Who are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences for fashion and art are my dad, he taught me a lot about drawing and being creative and to always use my imagination. My mom and my grandma both made clothes for themselves, so that in a way is in my blood. In pop culture, I love street art and Japanese art and fashion.

WBD: What inspires your designs?

A lot of things inspire our designs, but for me it is everything around me and what I have seen around the world and the places I’ve visited, from Japan to Peru and here in Los Angeles. Anything from music, art and people influence my designs.

WBD: What is your favourite piece from your collection?

It is our classic Estovar hoodie, it is so comfortable and it can be worn when your just hanging out or adding a jacket over it can dress it up a little.

WBD: What are some obstacles you have overcome?

One thing that I deal with personally is balancing my family with work. It is tough sometimes but I have a super supportive family and they believe in Estovar. God is our rock and that strong faith keeps us together through any obstacle.

WBD: Who would you love to work with and why?

I would love to work with Takashi Murakami, Pharrell Williams and it would be cool to work with some of the designers that work with Nike. It would be cool and interesting to combine my thoughts with these great artists. Another great designer/artist I would love to work with is Issey Miyake.

WBD: Tell us about one of the most memorable experiences in your career so far.

The most memorable moment in my career so far was when we started to get orders from all over the world, from the U.S. to Japan to Australia!

WBD: What do you have coming up that your excited about?

We have a couple of projects going on that we are working on and soon some really exciting new items.

WBD: What is your ultimate goal for Estovar?

My ultimate goal for Estovar is to be successful enough to help a lot of charities.

WBD: What advice do you have for those aspiring in their careers?

Stay humble and follow your dreams.
