Yoko Ono: #smilesfilm iPhone App

Yoko Ono, ever the artist, has embarked on what she has called her “ultimate goal in film-making.” The #smilesfilm is a project aiming to include a “smiling face snap” of every human being in the world. An online participant-fuelled artwork, #smilesfilm is Yoko’s way of uniting people around the world. People are invited to upload images of their smiles to Twitter or Instagram, along with the hashtag #smilesfilm and a geotag of the users location. To accompany this project, the free #smilesfilm iPhone app was launched; the app allows users to view uploaded smiles, see on a global map where images are being uploaded and also upload their own smile to the project. According to the #smilesfilm website, “Our smiles change moods and opinions as they radiate positive energy out into the world, creating joy, healing and peace, changing the Universe for the better.”
